๐Money words
Grown-ups use funny words for money things. Here's a cheat sheet.
- ๐ตIncome
- Money that comes IN to you. Like pay from chores, a gift, or pocket money.
- ๐งพExpense
- Money that goes OUT. Anything you spend or give.
- ๐Budget
- A simple plan that says 'this much for spending, this much for saving, this much for giving'.
- ๐บVault
- A named jar (and a matching digital pocket) for one goal.
- โจInterest
- Extra money you get for letting your money rest somewhere safe โ or extra money you pay if you borrow.
- ๐ชPrincipal
- The starting amount of money before any interest is added.
- โฌ๏ธDeposit
- Putting money INTO a vault or account.
- โฌ๏ธWithdrawal
- Taking money OUT of a vault or account.
- ๐คLoan
- Money someone lets you borrow now โ you promise to pay it back later, usually with a little extra interest.
- ๐ฑInvestment
- Money you put somewhere hoping it will grow over time. Can go up OR down.
- โค๏ธCharity
- A group that uses money to help people, animals or the planet.
- ๐งพReceipt
- The little paper or screen that proves you spent or got paid.
- ๐Saving rate
- How much of your money you keep instead of spending. 50% saved means half!
- ๐๏ธNet worth
- Everything you OWN (money + things worth money) minus everything you OWE.
